Robyn Profile Q&A
Ministry: Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, ServiceOntario
What’s your day job?
I’m a Senior Business Consultant with ServiceOntario’s Strategy Branch. We provide advice and guidance on the long-term direction of the organization.
What’s your past biking experience?
I’ve been a city cyclist for years, but I recently bought a touring bike and am working my way up to doing some fully loaded (camping gear and all!) bicycle touring in North America. B4UW will be my first tour.
What’s your inspiration for this ride?
For me, there isn’t a better place to ride in Ontario than around Algonquin Park, where I’ve spent many summers at my family cottage. The added encouragement of raising funds to help provide shelter and support to those in my community will put extra fuel in those pedal strokes!
How are you preparing for B4UW?
Breaking in my new leather saddle –in other words, putting my butt on the bike for many, many hours.
What do you think will be your greatest challenge on the ride?
The knees. Oh, the knees.
What do you like to do other than riding your bike?
I’ve been playing dodgeball in an adult league for almost five years. Yes, it is just like the movie, and a ton of fun.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
When I was a student, I worked as a tour guide on coach buses and after years of pointing things out to people’s left and right, I still mess up left and right all the time. I’m good at directions; just don’t make me give them to you!
