If you have more questions about the ride, contact previous riders or douglas.smith@ontario.ca
We would love to have you ride with us…
- Are an employee of Ontario Public Service or related agency?
- Are willing to cycle approximately 80km/day or 140km/day over multiple days?
- Many of our first time riders train over the summer, and we provide lots of support!
- Do you have 2-4 days to dedicate to the ride (weekend ride is Saturday and Sunday, 4 day ride requires you to take 2 vacation days)?
- Do you have a road bike in good condition or can borrow one for the ride?
- Do you have or can obtain camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc), or will you organize local accommodation (BnB or Inn/Lodging)?
- Are you positive and ready for an epic adventure?
Fundraising
There is no minimum fundraising target but riders are encouraged to raise at least $750 (4 day ride) or $400 (2 day ride) towards local United Way charities. Funds raised will be reflected in the rider’s overall ministry annual United Way campaign totals. We will help you with ideas and materials to fundraise through your personal and professional networks.
What You Need To Know
This is a self-supported ride. Each person will require to cover their own expenses (i.e. equipment, spare tires, travel to/from start/end points) and shared expenses (i.e. food, Support And Gear (SAG) vehicle, accommodations), which are typically quite minimal. Liability waivers are required to be signed. This is a team effort, everyone is expected to help at camp with setup/tear-down, cooking and clean-up.
