Bike 4 United Way (B4UW) is an annual Ontario Public Service (OPS) employee charity ride which has raised over $398,983 since 2012, for United Ways across Ontario. In 2023, there were three ride locations: western, Manitoulin, and Prince Edward County . Distances and speeds varied from 80km to 160km per day. The 2024 ride will take place in September and fundraising will be available up to October 31, 2024.
Along our route, B4UW visits local United Way offices and meet local champions and recipients. These are the people that realize the benefits of our efforts and your generosity. The OPS members across Ontario from a number of Ministries and agencies plan all aspects of the tour themselves, volunteering their time.
In 2012, a group of OPSers toured for ten days from Thunder Bay to Toronto while raising critical funds for the communities they were riding in. We want to bring it back.
Thank you for all those who supported the 2024 ride!
In September 2024, fifteen (15) Ontario Public Servants (OPS)ers cycled from Thunder Bay on the shores of Lake Superior, on the Trans Canada highway, staying at provincial parks, visiting local northern landmarks, all while supporting local United Way charities. They were met by seven additional riders in Tobermorey and Owen Sound for the trip down to Toronto. They had a team of stalward support volunteers that helped them along the way. through the sights of rural Ontario while supporting our local communities. The riders took vacation days and covered their own expenses. So far we’ve raised $43,866 in critical funds and support for United Way chapters across the province. Thank you – riders and supporters!
